      I was born in Mooresville, North Carolina and graduated from Brevard University.   In the late 1970’s I moved to Washington State with my family where I lived for the next 20 years.   While living in Washington, I was chairman of a local school board and become involved in the “Picture Person Program” at several elementary schools.   I taught children to love and appreciate art while being able to recognize well-known artists.   I began a Children’s Art Gallery and leased the student’s art to businesses in the area and raised thousands of dollars for the PTA.   It was then that my love of art blossomed.

      My family moved back to North Carolina in 1997, settling on the coast in Southport, a few miles south of Wilmington.  For the next five years I participated in art classes and became a member of the Associated Artists of Southport, displaying and selling my art at the Gallery as well as several local shops.   I also became a potter and my 3-D works and paintings have been juried into many art shows where I have received awards. My art has also been selected by business firms in North Carolina.   Five years ago I moved into this area. I am currently a member of the Alamance County Arts Council and a participant in the Art & and Soul Co-op in Mebane.

      I have taught summer art classes to students from ages eight years to twelve, having up to 14 children at a   time.   It was wonderful seeing the children’s art abilities and appreciation of art improve tremendously right before my eyes.   Their works were displayed in the local gallery during the school year.   My joy for teaching has also given me the opportunity to give individual art lessons.

      I may never be "rich and famous", but I love the joy that painting has given me and I am thankful I can express myself in these mediums.   It is an honor to know that my art and pottery is enjoyed by others and displayed in their homes throughout the United States.
